The Learning Pod Protection Act defines a learning pod as a voluntary association of parents grouping their children for K through 12 education, and bars the state, local governments and school districts from requiring a pod to register or report. A pod satisfies compulsory attendance only if each child is also enrolled in a school or the parent follows the home school law, and the act says a learning pod is not a nonpublic school. Takes effect May 2, 2025. Public Chapter 305. Took effect on becoming law.
Creates Education Freedom Scholarships, paid toward tuition and fees only at a Tennessee private school in Category I, II or III; home school students are not eligible. A school that enrolls recipients must test them in grades 3 through 11 every year, give results to parents, and report results to the Comptroller's office by each June 30. Read the act
Takes effect Feb 12, 2025. Public Chapter 7, First Extraordinary Session. Scholarships begin with the 2025-2026 school year.

A private school's chief administrator must report evidence of abuse or other listed misconduct by anyone employed by or seeking employment at the school, within 48 hours instead of seven business days. Providers taking education savings account money must give the comptroller what it needs to report staff misconduct. Read the act
Takes effect Jun 20, 2025. Applies from the 2025-2026 school year; the ESA provider reporting applies from 2026-2027.
Creates the Texas education savings account program. To accept ESA tuition a private school must be accredited by an organization recognized by the Texas Private School Accreditation Commission or TEA, test students in grades 3 through 12 every year, and have operated a campus for at least two school years.
